SHS Placement: Don’t Panic – MoE

        Parents and prospective senior high school students must not panic because all Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates who qualified for SHS will be duly given placements, Deputy Minister of Education In-charge of Second Cycle Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adu Twum has promised. He has given the assurance that no student who has qualified for placement would be left behind. Already, Education Minister, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, has assured parents and all qualified candidates that all the over 150,000 out of a total of 460,941 qualified BECE candidates who did not get placement in SHS, will definitely get placements in schools where vacancies exist. Already the Ghana Education Service (GES) has extended the window of placement by another 48 hours after it discovered that over 150,000 qualified candidates had still not been placed, 24 hours after the initial deadline expired. Vanguards Arrest 32 Galamseyers in the Eastern Region

The anti galamsey task force, Operation Vanguard, based in Eastern Region, has arrested 32 illegal small-scale miners at Okagya, near Kwabeng in the Atiwa District of the Eastern Region. The team retrieved 20 pumping machines, three water holes, one grease gun, one carpet, two head pans, one locally-manufactured riffle with three live cartridges. The suspects are Godwin Fianu 37,Yaw Forson 41, Fuseni Sulley 35, Ali Seidu 50, Zandia Akulogo 48, Akomea Boateng 37, Emmanuel Owusu 27, Tormenu Eric 27, Francis Poturphy 19, Muniru Fuseni 19, Camping Mohammed 29, Kwasi Ali 35 and Kofi Frimpong 46.
